When most people think about selling their product-they get caught up in their product.
Sound familiar?
What it does, how great it is, why it’s better than competitors.
Trouble is though-People don’t really give a hoot about how great you are or how great your product is.
They are tuned into “what’s in it for me” and don’t even know themselves, consciously (most of the time) why they are really buying.
But a good copywriter does know exactly why they are buying-and is able to press those buying buttons to get them to part with their cash in return for the amazing value you are offering of course.
And in case you didn’t know- those buying buttons are EMOTIONS.
Here’s a run down of just some of those “buying emotions”
Greed- We all want more, even though we don’t really need more-most of the time
Love/sex/intimacy-we all want it. And it’s often charged with conflicting emotions.
Respect-most of us don’t feel we get enough respect.
Pleasure-who doesn’t want more pleasure right?
Thinking of the 7 deadly sins can also help you when you are formulating sales
messages to boost your responses.
For example:
Showing people how your product/service can help them
Satisfy their Lust
Satiate their gluttony
Relieve their greed
Be more lazy
Exert their anger (wrath) think “revenge” here.
Make other people green with “envy”
Make others proud of them.
Pepper your copy with these emotions…building them into your product….
And watch your conversions soar.
